About the Job
As a "Start" Data Analyst at UEH, you will embark on an exciting journey to leverage data for insightful decision-making. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with approximately one year of experience in data analysis, ready to contribute to our growing team as an individual contributor. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data, with a specific focus on understanding and extracting value from systems built on Ruby on Rails. Your work will directly support various departments within UEH, helping to optimize operations, improve user experiences, and uncover actionable trends. This position is ideal for someone passionate about data, eager to learn, and looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and pre-process data from various sources, including databases supporting Ruby on Rails applications.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies relevant to UEH's operations and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using appropriate tools to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand Ruby on Rails application architecture and database schemas for efficient data extraction and analysis.
- Assist in defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the success of projects and organizational goals.
- Support senior analysts and managers in ad-hoc data requests and deeper dive analyses.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all analytical processes and reports.
- Present findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences clearly and concisely.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a data analysis role.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio).
- Basic understanding of statistical concepts and their application in data analysis.
- Experience with spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets) for data handling and reporting.
- Conceptual understanding of web application frameworks, particularly Ruby on Rails, and how they structure data.
Preferred Requirement
- Experience with a scripting language for data analysis (e.g., Python, R).
- Prior experience working with data from Ruby on Rails applications or understanding of ActiveRecord associations.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts.
- Ability to tell compelling stories with data.
- Experience in the education or public sector.
- Proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn new technologies and analytical methods.
